From central Helsinki's streets and squares to landmark buildings: projects featuring stone types we supply.

Selected projects

Stone that stands up to use

Our reference projects are located in some of Helsinki's busiest places, where durability, dimensional accuracy and lasting appearance matter. Some have been in use for more than fifty years.

Senaatintori
01

Senaatintori

Helsinki

Senate Square is Helsinki's oldest and most distinguished square. Helsinki Cathedral, the Government Palace and the main university building form the neoclassical ensemble designed by Carl Ludvig Engel.

The square's solid granite blocks define the space and provide seating for residents and visitors. The warm tone of Arctic Red complements the historic paving and surrounding buildings.

Application
Solid granite and seating blocks
Finlandia-talo

Finlandia-talo

Töölönlahti, Helsinki

Designed by Alvar Aalto, Finlandia Hall was completed beside Töölönlahti Bay in 1971, with the outdoor areas finished the following year. It is one of Finland's best-known buildings.

The terraces, entrance courtyard, garden terrace stairs and retaining walls feature bush-hammered Oulainen Black. The contrast between white marble and dark granite is integral to the architecture, and the stone has been in service for over five decades.

Application
Terraces, stairs, retaining walls, entrance courtyard

Aleksanterinkatu

Aleksanterinkatu

Helsinki

Aleksanterinkatu is a main shopping street in central Helsinki, running from Senate Square to Mannerheimintie. Trams, pedestrians and service vehicles use it throughout the year.

Arctic Red and Oulainen Black feature in the street's granite paving. The stone surfaces withstand the demands of busy traffic and winter maintenance year after year.

Application
Street paving, pavements
Narinkkatori, Kamppi
04

Narinkkatori, Kamppi

Helsinki

Narinkkatori, outside the Kamppi shopping centre, is one of Helsinki's busiest meeting places.

The square's planters and seating blocks are made from Arctic Red. These solid elements combine seating, traffic barriers and planting space, while their warm colour enlivens the public space.

Application
Planters, seating blocks
Keskustakirjasto Oodi
05

Keskustakirjasto Oodi

Kansalaistori, Helsinki

Helsinki Central Library Oodi opened in December 2018 on Kansalaistori, opposite Parliament House. It is one of the city's contemporary landmarks.

Light-coloured Arctic Pearl features in the stone surfaces around the library. Its restrained tone complements the timber and glass façades and the open setting of Kansalaistori.

Application
Outdoor stone surfaces
Radisson RED Helsinki
06

Radisson RED Helsinki

Helsinki

Radisson RED Helsinki is the chain's first hotel in Finland. Deep window openings and a clear grid define the façade.

The light-coloured façade stone is Arctic Pearl. Natural stone brings warmth and texture to the modern façade without the need for paint or a surface coating.

Application
Façade stone
